Birthday Cake Baking Checklist

• Gather all ingredients
• Preheat the oven to the correct temperature
• Prepare baking pans (grease and flour)
• Measure out flour and sugar
• Mix dry ingredients (flour, baking powder, salt)
• Cream butter and sugar together
• Add eggs one at a time, mixing well
• Incorporate vanilla extract
• Alternate adding dry ingredients and milk to the batter
• Pour batter into prepared pans
• Bake for the recommended time
• Check cakes with a toothpick for doneness
• Let cakes cool in the pans for 10 minutes
• Turn cakes out onto wire racks to cool completely
• Prepare frosting (buttercream, cream cheese, etc.)
• Level the cakes if necessary
