New features, improvements, and fixes — the little things that make your lists calmer with every update.
v1.5.0Latest
Lists that dress themselves
The rich lists release: media lists arrive wearing real artwork with notes and honest links, music items play the actual album as a preview reel, and the item screen learned to flip to the next item.
Lists that dress themselves ✨ — ask Nelly for "Top albums of the 90s" or "Stephen King novels" and every item arrives with its cover art, a real note (synopses, track listings, artist bios), and a link that goes to the right place
Tap ▶ on a music item and the album plays — a preview reel of 30-second clips, in track order, right inside your list; skip ahead, or let it walk the record
Films and shows carry their posters, games their box art — and the links behind them are real product pages, never guesses
Shopping-style lists link out to the product — chocolate bars, headphones, games — and "Fill in missing info" (list menu) dresses up lists you made before this release
Flip through your items — new ‹ › arrows on the item screen cycle straight to the next item in list order, no bouncing back to the list; the back button is a proper arrow now too
New items land on top — fresh things belong where you can see them; prefer the bottom? There's a toggle in list settings
Listen on Apple Music — music items carry a link to the real album page
Fixed: a save bar flashed for a beat when flipping between items, and on the Free tier a blank strip could sit above the keyboard while typing a note
Under the hood: link previews are sharper about sequels and remakes (Resident Evil 2 will never wear Resident Evil 3's artwork), and sign-in sessions recover more gracefully
v1.4.1
Little things, big difference
A polish release for the everyday moments: ticked items stay where they are, checkmarks stop second-guessing themselves, and a proper Help section arrives.
Completed items now stay where you ticked them — and if you prefer finished things out of the way, "Move completed to the bottom" now lives in Sort, where an ordering rule belongs
With sinking off, completed items can be dragged around like anything else
Fixed: checkmarks occasionally flickered off and back on right after ticking — one tap, one tick, done
A new Help section — tap Help in your account for short, skimmable guides to Live Lists, sharing, reminders, and more (also at nellylist.com/help)
Add several items at once — type "milk, eggs, bread" into any add row and each becomes its own item
A cleaner keyboard — the little arrow bar above it is gone, and on the Create with Nelly page the return key now says "go" and makes your list, no scrolling to the button
Find any icon fast — the icon picker now has search that understands what you mean: type "movie" or "dog" and the right icons appear
Prefer building by hand? The Create with Nelly page now offers "Create a list from scratch instead" — and whatever you'd typed becomes the new list's name
"Edit List" is now "Customize List" — same place, honest name
Smart Groups is faster — grouping a list Nelly has seen before comes back instantly
Small fixes and reliability improvements
v1.4.0
Everyone ticks their own
The biggest Live Lists update yet: shared challenges where each member tracks their own progress, owner controls over what members can change, and photo avatars — plus undo everywhere it matters.
Everyone ticks their own ✨ — turn it on and a Live List becomes a progress grid: one column per member, so a "100 films to watch" challenge tracks everyone's score side by side
Checking off as — ticking on someone's behalf? Choose who gets the credit before you tap
Column headers follow you — member avatars and group names stay pinned while you scroll a long list, so you always know whose column is whose
Locked Lists — new Live Lists start read-only for members: you decide whether they can add, edit, or delete, while completing and notes always stay open
Your photo, your avatar — upload a photo in Account and it's what your fellow members see
Leaving a Live List is now a choice — keep your own copy (with your ticks) or keep nothing; and only the owner can delete a Live List outright
If a list you belonged to is ended or deleted, NellyList automatically keeps you a private copy — your work is never lost
Undo, everywhere it matters — deleting lists and items can be undone for a few seconds, and an undone delete never even leaves your device
A calmer list menu — the crowded ••• menu is now organized tiles: View, Items, Groups, and List
Merging two lists is more reliable, member counts now always add up, and dozens of small fixes throughout
v1.3.3
Removed means removed
A small release with one fix worth shipping on its own: taking someone off a Live List now really does cut off their access.
Removing someone from a Live List now revokes their access properly — they lose the list, not just their spot in the member list
The What's New picture runs edge to edge at the top of the sheet
Small fixes and reliability improvements
v1.3.2
Nelly asks before she sorts — and admits when she can't
Smart Groups now asks how you'd like a list split before it moves anything, and Nelly stopped inventing answers she doesn't have. Plus a List Library you can tick before you even import.
Smart Groups asks first — tell Nelly how you'd like the list split, and watch her think it through before anything moves
Nelly can get it wrong, and now says so — the preview says as much, so you're approving a suggestion rather than trusting a machine
Straighter answers — Nelly stopped turning down lists she can actually build, and stopped padding unknowable ones with placeholder junk
Ungroup or delete a group straight from its menu — no chooser drawer in the way
Tick as you browse the List Library — your ticks come with you when you import (nellylist.com/lists)
Search the List Library — find a ready-made checklist without scrolling for it
What's New got a picture — release notes now arrive with a headline and a hero image
Item lists show completion when they have any, so ticks from an imported list aren't hidden
Live List scores ignore items that have since been deleted
Small fixes and reliability improvements
v1.3.1
Smart Groups — Nelly sorts your list for you
Groups grew a brain: Nelly can now propose groups for a messy list, a new sorting mode makes hand-organizing fast, and ranked lists join the party.
Smart Groups ✨ — Nelly looks at your list and proposes groups, with a preview you approve before anything moves (uses a Create with Nelly generation)
Organize into groups — a fast sorting mode: pick a group, tap items to toss them in, switch groups and keep going
Ranked lists get groups too — every group keeps its own 1-2-3 ranking
Rename with a tap — tap a group's name and type, just like renaming the list
Spin the wheel, per group — let Nelly pick from just one group's items when you can't decide
Deleting a group now asks whether to keep its items or delete them together
Fairer Live List scores — if someone unchecks an item, the original checker no longer keeps the point; whoever re-checks it takes the honors
Small fixes and reliability improvements
v1.3.0
Groups — organize items inside a list
The biggest update to lists yet: split any list into groups — like a Summer Vacation list with a section for each family member — each on its own card you can collapse, reorder, and manage.
Groups inside lists — tap the + next to Add an item (or the list menu) to create a group; each group gets its own card with its own add row
Made to be rearranged — collapse a group to a single bar, long-press and drag to reorder groups, drag items within a group
Move things in easily — send an item to a group from its detail screen, or move a whole selection at once with Bulk Select
Checked-off items stay in their group, so everyone can see what's theirs at a glance
Share a grouped list and it arrives with its groups intact
Small fixes and reliability improvements
v1.2.3
A little sparkle in the create flow
Creating lists feels more alive — Nelly's input glows to meet you, idea shuffling is easier to find, and the new-list screen shows you where to start.
Create with Nelly glows — a soft animated gradient traces the prompt box and brightens while you type your idea
Shuffle ideas, easier to spot — the idea shuffler is now a proper button, one tap for a fresh set of suggestions
The new-list screen points the way — the name field types out its own hint so it's always clear where to begin
Calm by design — all the new motion respects Reduce Motion and settles down the moment you start typing
Small fixes and reliability improvements
v1.2.2
A refreshed view menu, polished dark themes
The view menu got a bold new switcher, dark themes now reach every corner of the app, and Create with Nelly handles ambitious requests without cutting off mid-build.
A refreshed view menu — My Lists, Pinned, and Archived are now bold tiles, one tap apart, with clearer selected states throughout
Dark themes, everywhere — the top bar, checkboxes, progress rings, buttons, and the bottom bar now all match your theme
Tap Nelly to spin — on the decision wheel, Nelly herself is the spin button; keep tapping her for re-rolls
Create with Nelly goes further — longer rankings, best-ofs, and top picks build more reliably without errors partway through
Editing your profile now starts from your current name instead of a blank field
More consistent as you explore — the free plan feels steadier when you move between screens
Small fixes and reliability improvements
v1.2.1
Ranked lists: put things in order
A third list type joins To-dos and Items — rank your favorites by dragging them into place, and let Nelly build top-10 lists for you.
Ranked lists — a new list type for best-ofs and top-10s: every entry gets a numbered position, and the order is the ranking
Drag to rank — press and hold any entry and move it; the numbers follow. No checkboxes, no clutter — just your order
Nelly knows a ranking when she sees one — ask Create with Nelly for "Top 10 places to visit in the USA" or "Best films of all time" and she'll build it as a Ranked list, best first
Switch types anytime — turn any list into To-dos, Items, or Ranked from Edit List without losing a single entry
People tab remembers everything — Live List contributions no longer fade out over time, and history now reaches back to when your list first synced
Small fixes and reliability improvements
v1.2.0
Can't decide? Spin the wheel
Turn any list into a decision wheel and let NellyList pick for you — plus a cleaner date picker and reliability improvements.
Spin the Wheel — open a list's ••• menu, tap "Spin the wheel," and let NellyList pick: tonight's dinner, the next movie, which chore to tackle first
Picked and done — when the wheel stops, mark the winner complete in one tap or spin again; an item can sit out a round if you're not feeling it
Nelly's in on it — ask Create with Nelly for a decision wheel ("dinner spots we can spin to pick one") and spin what she builds
A cleaner date picker — picking dates is simpler and clearer, matching the time picker you already know
More reliable ads on the free plan and small fixes throughout
v1.1.10
See who's pitching in
Live Lists get a People tab — a friendly view of who's checking things off, plus a fast-growing List Library with smarter wording on every list.
People tab — open a Live List's progress view and see everyone's contributions at a glance, with simple bars showing who's checked off what
Pick your period — view contributions for this week, this month, or all time; recurring lists also get a "this cycle" view that resets with the list
Your own summary — your check-offs are pinned up top so you always know where you stand
The List Library is growing — new ready-made checklists are added daily at nellylist.com/lists, ready to copy into your account
Smarter list wording — lists from the library now arrive with proper labels and natural item names, so they file neatly into your groups
Small fixes and reliability improvements
v1.0.9
Face ID App Lock
Your lists, for your eyes only — NellyList can now lock itself behind Face ID.
Face ID App Lock — turn it on in Account → App Lock and NellyList locks when you leave the app; Face ID (or Touch ID) unlocks it instantly, with your device passcode as a backup
Cancelling Apple sign-in no longer shows a confusing error
Small fixes and reliability improvements
v1.0.8
Smoother sign-up and sync
A quick follow-up focused on getting started: confirming your email now happens right in the app, and new lists sync across devices reliably.
Confirm your email with a 6-digit code — no more bouncing out to the browser during sign-up
Fixed an issue where newly created lists didn't appear on your other devices — affected lists catch up automatically
Small fixes and reliability improvements
v1.0.7
Live Lists, levelled up
Live Lists get a big reliability and usability overhaul — a new home behind the lightning bolt, invites that work on the first try, and full control over sharing. Create with Nelly is steadier too, alongside a stack of quality-of-life fixes.
The lightning bolt — every list now has a bolt in its header: tap it to make the list live, invite people, and manage members, all in one place; it fills in when a list is live
"Make this a Live List?" — a friendly explainer the first time you tap the bolt, so you know exactly what sharing means before you invite anyone
Invites that just work — sharing a brand-new list no longer fails with confusing errors, even right after opening the app; repeated shares reuse the same link
Joining is smoother — tap an invite link while signed out and you're joined automatically right after signing in, no second tap; clear messages if a link has expired or a list is full
Stop sharing — a new owner control that takes a list private again in one step, removing all members and disabling every invite link
Removed someone by mistake? — member removal now has Undo
Live badge on My Lists — a tiny bolt on list cards shows which lists are live at a glance
Create with Nelly is more reliable — your first list after opening the app no longer stalls, and the screen is calmer: seven tappable ideas with a Shuffle button
Cloud sync is more resilient — fixed rare cases where the app could stop syncing for a whole session, or where lists created before signing in never reached your account
Sign out works every time — no more being stranded on the getting-started screen
Duplicate a to-do — reminders (like "1 hr before") now copy with the item
Polish everywhere — notifications no longer clip long messages, desktop swipe and sharing feel right, sheets close with X or Escape, and primary buttons stay in reach on larger screens
v1.0.6
Clearer Sign in with Apple accounts
Accounts that use Apple's Hide My Email no longer look like random codes — your real name is kept when Apple shares it, and the account screen shows a friendly Sign in with Apple label instead of a private relay address.
Sign in with Apple — your name from Apple is saved when available, instead of a random-looking email prefix
Account screen — Hide My Email users see "Signed in with Apple" instead of a private relay address
Friendlier placeholder — if no name was captured yet, the profile invites you to add one
v1.0.5
Live Lists
Share a list with family and friends so everyone stays in sync — with invites, activity history, and a clearer My Lists layout.
Live Lists — share a list so everyone stays in sync; changes show up for everyone in real time
Invite links — send a Live List invite from any list; recipients can preview items before they join
Recent activity — see who added, checked off, or brought back items in a list's history
Removed from a Live List? — choose to keep your own copy of the list or remove it from your account
Cleaner list sorting — grouped sort options on My Lists are easier to browse with a clearer layout
v1.0.4
Smarter Siri and clearer filters
Voice shortcuts handle multiple items more reliably, and label and archive browsing is easier to understand at a glance.
Smarter Siri adds — say multiple items at once and Nelly splits them more reliably
Label filters are clearer — "Filtered by label" with folder icon and list count
Archived view matches — "Filtered by archive" when browsing archived lists
Performance and reliability improvements
v1.0.3
Smarter Siri and in-app updates
More flexible voice shortcuts and an easier way to see what changed — plus gentle nudges when a newer version is on the App Store.
Add multiple items by voice — new Siri shortcut: "Add milk, eggs, and bread to Groceries"
What's New — see release notes on launch or anytime from Account
Update prompts — gentle reminders when a newer App Store version is available
Share links — improved App Store links for people joining from a shared list
v1.0.2
Top Lists, Siri, and Create with Nelly
Get to your most-used lists faster — on screen and by voice — with a smoother Create with Nelly flow and a refreshed welcome on iPhone.
Top Lists — pin your go-to lists so they stay one tap away
Add an item by voice — "Add milk to Groceries" via Siri; shortcuts use your real list names from the app
Instant list creation — after Nelly builds your list, you land straight on the list (not a pre-save config screen)
"Nelly made your list" — one-time bottom prompt with Looks good or Tweak list
Clearer review flow — back button asks before discarding your list
Create List shimmer — clearer feedback while Nelly is working
Native onboarding — full-screen backgrounds and a clearer first-run flow on iPhone
Ad reliability — corrected AdMob setup for free-tier ads
Performance and reliability improvements across the app
