Change your name and avatar
Open Account & Settings to change your display name with Edit profile, and your picture with Avatar. Both are what people on your Live Lists see next to your ticks.
Your name and avatar live on the Account & Settings page. On My Lists, tap the menu (☰) at the top right and choose Account & Settings. Your picture, name and sign-in email sit in the card at the top.
How you sign in
- Continue with Apple works on iPhone and on the web.
- Continue with Google is on the web app only, not in the iPhone app.
- Email and password works on both. A new email account is confirmed with a code or link sent to your inbox.
If you chose Hide My Email with Apple, the page shows Signed in with Apple instead of Apple's relay address.
Change your display name
- On Account & Settings, tap Edit profile.
- Type your name in Display name.
- Tap Save.
Your name starts as the one Apple or Google shared, the one you typed when you signed up, or the first part of your email. If Apple shared no name and you hid your email, the card reads Add your name, and people on your Live Lists see you as just "Member" or "Owner" until you add one.
Choose your avatar
- On Account & Settings, tap Avatar.
- Pick Photo or Color at the top of the sheet.
- For a photo, tap Upload a photo and choose one from your library.
- For a color, tap any swatch. Your initials show on it.
Picking a swatch switches you to Color straight away, even from the Photo tab. Use the default color goes back to the color NellyList picked for you. Avatar changes save as you tap; there's no Save button.
What other people see
On a Live List, your display name and avatar are how everyone else knows it's you: in the list's Members, and next to the items you check off. Change either one and your Live Lists pick it up. Nobody sees your email. See Manage who's on a Live List.
FAQ
Can I change the email on my account?
Not from the app at the moment. Your email is how you sign in, so the account page shows it but doesn't edit it.
Apple sign-in says it didn't share my email. What do I do?
Apple only shares your email the first time you use it with an app. The app walks you through it: in iOS Settings, tap your name, then Sign in with Apple, choose NellyList and Stop Using Apple ID. Come back and tap Try Apple again.
Why do I see my initials instead of my photo?
You're on Color, or your photo couldn't load. Open Avatar and tap Photo.
How do I sign out?
At the bottom of Account & Settings, tap Sign out. Your lists stay in your account for next time.
