Leave a Live List
Swipe left on the list and tap Leave list, or use Leave Live List in the list's menu or under the lightning bolt, then choose whether to keep your own copy. The list carries on for everyone else.
Done with a list someone invited you to? You leave it. The list itself belongs to its owner, so leaving never affects anyone else: they carry on exactly as before. You choose whether to walk away with your own private copy.
How to leave
- On your lists, swipe left on the Live List and tap Leave list. Or open the list and tap ⋯ → Leave Live List, or the lightning bolt and then Leave Live List at the bottom.
- Pick one:
- Leave and keep my copy: saves a private list with everything you've ticked off. It's renamed with "(my copy)" on the end so you can tell it from the original, and it's yours to edit or delete.
- Leave and keep nothing: removes the list from your devices. There's no undo.
- Or tap Cancel to stay.
What comes with your copy
- On a list completed together, every tick comes across, whoever made it, because a tick there belongs to the list.
- On a list for each person, only your own ticks come across. Other people's columns belong to them. See Let each person track their own progress.
Your copy doesn't sync with the group anymore. Your past ticks stay in the Live List's history for everyone still on it.
Why can't I delete it?
Only the owner can delete a Live List, because a member deleting it would take it away from everyone. If you just want it off your lists, leaving is the way. That's why the swipe on someone else's Live List says Leave list where your own lists say Delete.
If you're the owner
You can't leave your own Live List, since it's yours. To stop sharing it, tap the lightning bolt and choose End the Live List: everyone else is removed and it becomes a private list again. Or delete it. See Manage who's on a Live List.
When a list is taken away from you
If the owner ends or deletes a list you were on, or removes you from it, you don't lose your work. NellyList keeps a private copy for you automatically, with the same ticks described under What comes with your copy above. This copy keeps the list's original name.
Your app tells you what happened: that you were removed, or that the Live List ended. If it can't check which (say you're offline), it just says you're no longer on the Live List. Either way, the copy is yours.
FAQ
Will the owner know I left?
You disappear from the list's Members, so anyone who looks will see you're no longer on it.
Can I rejoin after leaving?
Yes, if you still have a working invite link or the owner sends you a new one. See Join a Live List someone invited you to.
I left by mistake and chose keep nothing. Can I get it back?
Not from your side. Ask the owner to invite you again, and you'll rejoin the list as it is now.
