Share a copy vs. a Live List

NellyList has two ways to share, and they do very different things. Picking the right one is the whole trick.

Share a copy sends a snapshot. The other person gets their own private list with everything that's on yours right now — and from that moment the two lists live separate lives. You tick yours, they tick theirs, nothing syncs.

A Live List is one list you work on together. Everyone who joins sees the same items, and a change made by anyone shows up for everyone, on every device.

Which one do you want?

• Sending Mum your packing checklist so she can use it for her own trip → Share a copy.
• A grocery list you and your partner both add to during the week → Live List.
• A "100 films to watch" challenge where each of you ticks your own progress → Live List, with Everyone ticks their own turned on.

Good to know

• A copy link works for 30 days, and the copy never changes after it's claimed — later edits to your original stay yours.
• A Live List starts read-only for members: they can look and add notes, but not change your items until you unlock editing. See Locked Lists.
• You can share the same list both ways at different times — a copy for one person, live for another.
