Can't decide? Spin the wheel
Open the list and tap ⋯ → Spin the wheel, then tap Nelly in the middle. The wheel lands on one of the items you haven't checked off yet.
When the list is full of good options and nobody can choose, let the wheel do it. Open the list, tap ⋯ → Spin the wheel, and tap Nelly in the middle. The wheel spins and lands on one item for you.
Spin
- Open the list and tap ⋯ → Spin the wheel. It's under Tools.
- Tap Nelly in the middle of the wheel, or the Spin the wheel button below it.
- The wheel slows down and names the winner, like Pizza night was picked!
The wheel only uses items you haven't checked off yet, so a movie you've already watched never comes up again.
After it lands
- Mark complete checks the winner off, straight from the wheel. It appears on to-do lists.
- Spin again gives you another go. The wheel is fair every time, so the same item can win twice.
Tap to sit one out
When there are more than two choices, each one appears as a chip below the wheel, under Tap to sit one out. Tap a chip to take that item off the wheel for now; it's crossed out and the wheel redraws without it. Tap it again to bring it back.
Sitting an item out doesn't change your list, and every item is back on the wheel the next time you open it.
Spin just one group
On a list with Sort a list into groups, each group has its own wheel. Tap the group's ⋯ and choose Spin the wheel to pick only from that group, like choosing a restaurant from Italian rather than the whole list.
On a Live List
Everyone on a Live List can spin. On a list where everyone ticks their own, the wheel uses the items you haven't done, and Mark complete ticks the winner off for you alone. See Let each person track their own progress.
FAQ
Why isn't Spin the wheel in my menu?
The wheel needs at least two unchecked items to choose between, and it steps aside when a list has too many to fit readable slices. Check a few items off, or spin a single group instead.
Does spinning use my Nelly allowance?
No. The wheel picks at random on your device, so you can spin as often as you like. See How your Nelly allowance works for what does.
Can I get a result without the animation?
If your device is set to reduce motion, the wheel skips the long spin and shows the winner almost straight away.
