Everyone ticks their own

Normally a Live List has one set of ticks — when the milk's bought, it's bought for everyone. But for challenges and shared goals ("100 films to watch", "every national park"), you each want your own progress. That's what Everyone ticks their own does.

Turn it on in the list's display options and the list becomes a grid: one column per member, one tick circle each per item.

How it works

• Your column is yours. Tick your circle when you've seen it, read it, been there. Everyone's totals sit at the top, so the friendly rivalry is built in.
• Column headers follow you. As you scroll a long list, the member avatars (and the group name) stay pinned to the top so you always know whose column is whose.
• You can tick for someone else. Checking off on behalf of another member — say you're holding the phone while they drive — is allowed: use the Checking off as bar to choose who gets the credit before you tick.

What the numbers mean

Each member's count is their completed items. Unticking something takes it back out of your count — progress is always live, never a high-water mark.

Good to know

• Switching a list between normal and everyone mode doesn't lose anything — ticks are kept per person underneath either way.
• If you leave a list like this (or it's ended), your automatic personal copy keeps your ticks — other people's columns belong to them.
