Let each person track their own progress
Choose A list for each person when you make a list live, and everyone gets their own column of ticks and their own count. Only your column is yours to tick.
Normally a Live List is one list, completed together: when the milk's bought, it's bought for everyone. But for challenges and shared goals ("100 films to watch", "every national park"), you each want your own progress. That's what A list for each person does: the list becomes a grid with one column of ticks per person, and a count at the foot of each column.
Set it up
- Open the list and tap the lightning bolt.
- Choose A list for each person, then tap Continue.
- Choose what members can do and tap Make List Live. See Start a Live List for the rest.
The grid appears as soon as your invite is out: your column, plus a dashed column waiting for the first person to join. Anyone who joins from your link opens straight into the grid.
The choice only appears on a list you check things off, like a To-dos list.
How the grid works
- Your column is yours. Tap your circle when you've seen it, read it or been there. Your column comes first, so it's always in reach.
- Everyone else's ticks are there to see. Other people's circles show their progress, but only they can tick them.
- The counts sit at the bottom. Each person's total is at the foot of their column, with yours in bold.
- Headers follow you. As you scroll a long list, the avatars (and the group name) stay pinned at the top, so you always know whose column is whose.
- Done by everyone. When every person has ticked an item, it's crossed out.
Your progress
The progress card at the top shows Your progress, for example You've done 7 of 18. That's your count, not the group's. Tap the card and open People to see how far along each person is. See See how far along a list is.
Unticking something takes it back out of your count, so the numbers are always live.
Starting over
Only the owner can reset a list for each person, because it clears everyone's ticks. If the owner starts it over, each member is told, and if you'd ticked anything you can tap Save a copy to keep a record of your progress.
When it's finished
Once everything is checked off, the card at the top shows everyone's faces and says "You both did it" for two of you, or "You all did it" for more.
FAQ
Can I tick things off for someone else?
No. Only your own column responds to a tap. Everyone ticks their own.
What happens to my ticks if I leave?
If you leave and keep a copy, your copy comes with your ticks only. Other people's columns belong to them. The same goes if the owner ends the list or removes you. See Leave a Live List.
Why don't I see columns on my list?
The grid only appears on a Live List set to A list for each person. A list completed together shows one shared tick per item instead.
