Manage who's on a Live List
Tap the lightning bolt on a Live List to see its members. As the owner you can invite more people, revoke links, remove someone, change member rules or end the Live List.
Everything about who's on a Live List lives behind the lightning bolt at the top of the list. Tap it to open Manage Live List: you'll see everyone on the list, and if you're the owner, the controls for inviting, removing and ending.
See who's on the list
Tap the lightning bolt. The Members tab lists everyone, each with their avatar, and marks each person as Owner or Editor. Members see the same list, without the owner's controls.
Invite more people
- On iPhone, tap Invite to Live List to open the share sheet with the invite link.
- On a computer, tap Copy invite link, then paste it wherever you like.
An invite link works for anyone you send it to, until it runs out after 30 days or you revoke it.
Revoke invite links
Tap Revoke invite links to stop every link you've sent from working. Nobody new can join with them, and everyone already on the list stays. When you want to invite someone again, Invite to Live List (or Copy invite link) makes a fresh link.
Remove a member
- Tap the lightning bolt, and stay on Members.
- Tap the remove button next to the person's name.
- Changed your mind? Tap Undo on the banner that appears.
They lose access straight away, and the invite link they have stops working for them, even though it still works for everyone else. If you want them back later, send them a new invite.
They don't lose their work: their app keeps them a private copy of the list, with the items they'd checked off.
Change what members can do
Tap Member rules to switch adding, editing and removing items, and seeing dates and notes, on or off for everyone but you. Changes apply straight away. See Locked Lists for what each switch does.
End the Live List
When you're done sharing:
- Tap the lightning bolt, then End the Live List.
- Confirm with End Live List.
Everyone is removed and all invite links stop working. The list and its items stay on your account as a private list again. Each member keeps their own private copy, with their ticks.
FAQ
What does the person I removed see?
The list stops syncing for them, and their app tells them it's now their own private list, with the items they'd checked off.
Can I hand the list over to someone else?
No. A Live List's owner can't be changed. You can end the Live List, and someone else can start a new one from their copy.
Can I delete the list while people are on it?
Yes, as the owner. Everyone else keeps their own private copy of it.
