Get photos and maps for each place
When you ask Nelly for places, every item comes with a photo, a short note about the place and an Open in Maps link. Add details with Nelly fills in places that are missing them, at no cost to your allowance.
Ask Nelly for places and your list comes ready for daydreaming and planning. Every place arrives with a photo, a short note about it, and an Open in Maps link that takes you straight there.
Make a place list
On My Lists, tap + → Create with Nelly and ask for somewhere on a map, or tap the National parks idea and then Create my list. For example:
- "Caribbean cities we should visit"
- "Beaches in Portugal"
- "Landmarks in Rome"
- "Stops for a road trip down the California coast"
Cities, towns, countries, islands, beaches, landmarks, parks and neighborhoods all count. When a name could mean more than one place, Nelly adds the country or region, like "Havana, Cuba", so it's easy to find on a map. See Create a list with Nelly for the rest of the create flow.
What each place comes with
Tap a place to open it:
- A photo of the place, on its row and as the item's first photo.
- A short note about the place, usually drawn from Wikipedia.
- Open in Maps: a link that opens Google Maps at that place.
Photos are fetched once and kept, so a place someone has asked for before appears straight away. Place photos are provided by Pexels.
Sort it into regions
A long list of places reads better in groups. Tap ⋯ → Smart Groups and Nelly offers ways to split it, such as by region, country or state. See Sort a list into groups with Nelly.
Adding more places
On a place list, ⋯ → More with Nelly suggests more places that fit, and each new one comes with its photo, note and Maps link too. See Add more items with Nelly.
Filling in older or incomplete lists
Now and then a place arrives without its photo, or a list was made before places had these extras. Open the list, tap ⋯ → Add details with Nelly, and tap Enrich. Places missing a photo, a note or a Maps link get them, and a note you wrote yourself is left alone.
Filling in places is free: it doesn't use your Nelly allowance.
FAQ
Does Open in Maps use Apple Maps?
No. It opens a Google Maps search for the place, which works on any phone or computer.
A photo shows the wrong place. What can I do?
Open the item and tap ⋯ → This doesn't look right… to report it. You can also add your own photos to any item, see Add photos to an item.
Can I add a place that Nelly didn't suggest?
Yes. Type it in like any item. Then run Add details with Nelly to give it a photo, a note and a Maps link.
