Add more items with Nelly
On a list, tap ⋯ → More with Nelly, choose how many items you want, and tap Ask Nelly. She suggests items that fit and aren't already there, and you choose which to add.
Any list can grow, whether Nelly made it or you did. Open the list, tap ⋯ → More with Nelly, choose how many items you'd like, and tap Ask Nelly. She reads what's already there, suggests items that fit, and lets you pick which ones to add.
Ask for more
- Open the list and tap ⋯, then More with Nelly (under Tools).
- Drag the How many slider. It goes up to the most your plan allows at a time, and the sheet shows that limit.
- Optionally, fill in Anything in particular? to steer her: "80s thrillers", "things I'd forget to pack", "vegetarian".
- Tap Ask Nelly.
- Her suggestions appear, all ticked. Untick anything that doesn't belong, then tap Add (it shows the count, like "Add 5 books").
A banner confirms how many were added, with Undo if you change your mind.
What Nelly does with the new items
- No repeats. She skips anything already on the list, and NellyList checks again as it adds them, in case the list changed while you were choosing.
- Existing groups only. On a list with groups, a new item goes into a group that fits, which you'll see as a tag beside it. Nelly never creates new groups. To sort a list into groups, use Sort a list into groups with Nelly.
- Same details as the rest. On a list of books, films, music, games, dishes or places, new items come with the same extras as the originals: links, artwork and notes, recipes for dishes, and photos and Maps links for places.
- Your usual spot. New items go wherever new items normally go on that list, the top or the bottom.
What it costs
Each ask uses one from your Nelly allowance, the same as creating a list. The top of the sheet shows how many you have left today. If you're out, Ask Nelly is grayed out until your allowance refills. An ask that fails, or where Nelly can't find anything new, doesn't count. See How your Nelly allowance works.
FAQ
Who can use More with Nelly on a Live List?
Anyone who's allowed to add items to that list. It isn't offered on an archived list, or to a member when the owner has switched off adding. See Locked Lists.
Nelly found fewer items than I asked for. Why?
The header says so, for example "you asked for 10". Some topics only have so many good answers, and Nelly won't pad the list with filler or repeats.
What does "Nothing new to add" mean?
Nelly couldn't think of anything that isn't already on the list, or the request is something she can't know. Tap Try again to reword your ask.
