Open a list someone shared with you
Open the link and tap Save your own copy. You get your own private list with their items, and nothing you or they change afterward syncs between you.
When someone uses Share a copy, they send you a link to a snapshot of their list. Open it and tap Save your own copy, and you get your own private list with their items in it. It's yours from then on: change it, tick it off or delete it, and none of that reaches the person who sent it.
Save it on your iPhone
- Tap the link wherever it arrived.
- If NellyList is installed, the app opens and shows the list: its name, who shared it and a preview of the items.
- Tap Save your own copy. Tap Not now if you don't want it.
- The new list opens, and a banner confirms it was added.
If the link opens in Safari instead, tap Already have the app? Open in NellyList. No app yet? Tap Get NellyList to install it, then tap the link again.
Save it in a web browser
- Open the link to see a preview of the list.
- Tap Save your own copy. If you're not signed in, the button says Sign in to save: sign in or create an account, and the list comes up again for you to tap Save your own copy.
On an iPhone browser the same option appears as Or save your own copy here (or Or save it here in your browser) under the app buttons.
What you get
- The list's name, icon and color.
- Every item, in the same order and the same groups.
- Each item's notes, links, dates and checklist rows.
Everything arrives unticked, ready for you to start. The sender's reminders and the photos they added to items don't come across.
If the link doesn't work
This link has expired means the link is more than 30 days old. Ask the sender to tap Share a copy again and send you a fresh one. If the list can't be found at all, the link may have been mistyped or cut off; ask them to send it again.
FAQ
Can I save the same list more than once?
Yes. Each time you tap Save your own copy, you get another separate list.
Will the sender see what I do with my copy?
No. Your copy is private to you and doesn't sync with theirs.
Can other people use the same link?
Yes. Anyone who opens the link before it expires can save their own copy.
