Get cover art and links for films, music and books

Name a film, an album, a book or a game and NellyList can dress the row for it: cover art on the row, a link that opens the right place, and a note with the plot, synopsis or track listing. We call these Rich Lists, and you can get one from Nelly or build it yourself.

Ask Nelly for one

Mention what you're into and Nelly does the rest:

• "Top 10 Netflix horror films"
• "Oasis albums"
• "Books by Roald Dahl"

Every item arrives with its artwork, a link, and a note: a film's plot, a book's synopsis, an album's track listing, or a short bio for an artist. Simple prompts work best. "Oasis albums" beats a long, clever sentence, and naming the author or band helps NellyList find the right covers. See Create a list with Nelly for the basics.

Links are checked first. When NellyList can't verify the exact page, the item links to the service's own search for that title, so a tap always goes somewhere real.

Build one yourself

• Paste a link into the add-item field. The row picks up the page's artwork and title on its own. Type words around the link ("Alien https://…") and your words become the item's name.
• Add a link to an item you already have. Open it and use Add a link… below the notes. See Add links to an item.
• Share from another app on iPhone. Choose NellyList in the share sheet. The list you have open is already chosen; search finds any other, and New list… makes one on the spot.

Music plays a preview

Music items carry a play button on their card. A song plays a 30-second preview; a Spotify album or artist plays a preview reel, a taste of each track in turn. Tap again to stop, or tap the card to open it in the streaming app.

Keep a list tidy

• Hide the artwork. Open the list's ⋯ menu, tap View options, and switch off Show artwork. The covers go; the links stay.
• No date fields on rich items. A film poster isn't a chore, so items made from a link start without Date, Time or Remind me. To schedule one anyway, open it, tap ⋯, and switch on Show date & reminder.
• Fill the gaps. If an item arrives without its artwork or note, most gaps fill themselves in as you view the list. To hurry it along, use ⋯ → Add details with Nelly (Fill in missing details with Nelly).

FAQ

What if Nelly picked the wrong cover or link?

Open the item, tap ⋯ → This doesn't look right…, tick what's off and add a line if you like. It goes to the NellyList team and helps Nelly improve. You can still fix the item yourself: rename or remove the link, change the photo, or rewrite the note.

Which services does NellyList recognize?

Netflix, Disney+, Prime Video, HBO Max, IMDb and Letterboxd for film and TV; Spotify and Apple Music; Goodreads and Amazon for books; Steam, PlayStation and Xbox for games; plus YouTube, TikTok, Instagram and X. Any other web link works too and shows its own picture when the page has one.

Do book links earn NellyList anything?

Some book items carry a Buy on Amazon link. Purchases through these links may earn NellyList a small commission, at no extra cost to you.
