Fill in missing details with Nelly
On a list, tap ⋯ → Add details with Nelly, choose Artwork, Notes or both, and tap Enrich. Nelly fills only the empty fields, unless you ask her to replace your notes.
When items on a list are missing their artwork or notes, Nelly can fill the gaps for you. Open the list, tap ⋯ → Add details with Nelly, choose what to fill, and tap Enrich. Only empty fields are filled, so anything you've written yourself stays as it is.
Fill in a list
- Open the list and tap ⋯, then Add details with Nelly (under Tools).
- Choose what to fill with the two switches:
- Artwork: covers, posters and album art for the items.
- Notes: synopses, track listings and artist bios.
- Tap Enrich. Nelly shows Adding details to your list while she works, and a banner tells you how it went.
If every item already has what you asked for, you'll see Everything's already filled in.
What gets filled
- Artwork becomes the item's first photo, as long as the item doesn't have a photo yet. A photo you added is never replaced.
- Notes go into items whose notes are empty. A note that's just an author's or artist's name gets the synopsis added beneath it.
- Links are added to items that don't have one, on lists Nelly recognizes, so the item has somewhere to point.
Replace my notes
With Notes on, a Replace my notes checkbox appears. It's off every time you open the sheet. Tick it and Nelly may rewrite notes you wrote yourself, for this run only. If you edit a note while she's working, your edit wins. On a Live List only the owner sees this option, and it warns that notes there may be other members' words.
What it works best on
Add details is on every list, but it shines on books, films, TV, music and games, where Nelly can find real covers and synopses. It also fills dish photos and recipes on recipe lists, and photos, notes and Maps links on place lists. On an everyday list, like groceries or chores, there's often nothing to find, and the banner says Nothing new found rather than pretending.
Does it use my allowance?
Finding artwork and looking things up is free. The only part that can cost anything is Notes: when Nelly has to write notes herself because there's nothing to look up, that run uses one from your Nelly allowance, however many items it covers. FAQ
Will Nelly overwrite what I've written?
No. She only fills empty fields, unless you tick Replace my notes for that run.
Why can't I turn on Notes?
On a Live List where the owner has switched off See notes, the switch stays off and says The owner has hidden notes on this list. See Locked Lists.
Why didn't some items get artwork?
Artwork isn't available for everything yet, especially items that aren't books, films, music, games, dishes or places. Nelly says so in the banner.
