Get back something you deleted
Right after you delete a list, an item or a photo, tap Undo in the message at the top of the screen. After that message goes, the app can't bring it back, so archive lists you might want later.
Deleted something by mistake? Tap Undo in the message that appears at the top of the screen, and it comes straight back, items, photos and all. The message stays up for about six seconds.
What you can undo
The Undo message appears after:
- Deleting a list, from its ⋯ menu (Delete list), by swiping it on My Lists, or several at once.
- Deleting items, one at a time or several you've selected.
- Removing photos from an item or the image gallery.
- Archiving or restoring a list, and merging lists.
- Moving items into a group.
- Adding items with Nelly, and sorting a list with Smart Groups.
Checking an item off doesn't need Undo: tap its circle again to uncheck it. See Check things off (and undo it).
Why Undo is safe
A delete waits on your device until the Undo message has gone, and only then syncs. So if you tap Undo, the delete was never sent: your other devices never see the list vanish, and neither does anyone on a Live List.
If you close the app during those few seconds, the delete still goes through the next time the app is open.
After the message has gone
Once the Undo message is gone, there's no way to bring a deleted list or item back in the app. There's no Recently Deleted folder. Deleted lists are cleared from our servers for good after 30 days.
Live Lists
Only the owner can delete a Live List. Deleting it ends the list for everyone, and each member automatically keeps a private copy of what they'd done.
If it's someone else's Live List, you'll see Leave list instead of Delete. Leaving can't be undone with the Undo message, so the app asks first. See Leave a Live List.
FAQ
I deleted a list a minute ago. Can I still get it back?
Not from the app. Undo only lasts while the message is on screen. If the list was a Live List, another member may still have their own copy.
Can I undo on one device what I deleted on another?
No. Undo belongs to the device you deleted on, and only for those few seconds.
Does deleting a list delete its reminders?
Yes. Reminders belong to their items, so they go with the list.
