Merge two lists into one
On My Lists, tap the gear button, then Organize My Lists → Merge lists. Tick the lists, tap Merge, name the new list and choose whether to keep the originals.
Merging makes one new list out of two or more of yours. Everything on the lists you pick is combined into the new list, one list after another, and you choose whether the originals stay or go.
Merge lists
- On My Lists, tap the gear button next to the title.
- Tap Organize My Lists → Merge lists.
- Tick the lists you want to combine. You need at least two.
- Tap Merge at the bottom of the screen.
- Fill in the Merge lists sheet, then tap Merge 2 lists (the number matches how many you picked).
The merge options
- New list name is required. The field starts empty, with the lists' names shown as a hint.
- List type is To-dos, Items or Ranked.
- Label is optional, with chips for labels you already use. See Pin, label and archive lists.
- Original lists: Keep originals copies the items into the new list and leaves the old lists alone. Delete originals moves the items and removes the old lists.
The new list appears on My Lists, taking its icon and color from one of the lists you merged.
What comes across
- Items and their details: notes, photos, links, dates and checklists come with each item.
- Ticks: on a To-dos list, items you'd checked off stay checked off. Items and Ranked lists have no ticks, so everything arrives unticked.
- Groups don't come across. Every item lands in the main list. To sort them again, add groups by hand or let Nelly do it with Smart Groups.
Changed your mind?
Tap Undo in the Merged into… banner straight away. It removes the new list and, if you chose Delete originals, brings the old lists back exactly as they were.
On a Live List
The merged list is a brand-new list that only you have. Nobody from a Live List you merged is added to it; invite them again if you want to share it. See Start a Live List.
FAQ
Can I merge more than two lists?
Yes. Tick as many as you like, and they're all combined into one new list.
Why is Merge lists missing?
It appears when there are at least two lists showing on My Lists. If you've filtered My Lists to one label with a single list, go back to My Lists first.
Can I move just a few items instead?
Yes. Open an item and use ⋯ → Move to list…. See Select, move or delete several items at once.
