Check things off (and undo it)
Tap the circle next to an item to check it off; tap it again to uncheck it. Completed items can stay in place, gather at the bottom, or be hidden, and a finished list can be reset to use again.
Tap the circle next to an item to check it off. The progress count at the top of the list moves with it. Changed your mind? Tap the circle again and the item is back where it was.
Check off and uncheck
- Tap the circle to the left of the item. It fills with the list's color and a tick.
- Tap it again to uncheck. There's no separate undo to hunt for; the circle is the switch.
You can also open an item and tap Mark as complete at the bottom of its page. Once it's done the button reads Completed, and Tap to undo reverses it.

Where completed items go
By default a checked item stays where it is. Two settings change that:
- Move completed to the bottom: in ⋯ → Sort. Checked items gather under a Completed heading at the end of the list.
- Show completed tasks: in ⋯ → View options. Turn it off to hide checked items entirely. They're still there, and still counted.
Both are per list. On a Live List they only change your own view.
When everything's done
Check off the last item and a card says You did it. From there:
- Use Again unchecks everything so the list is fresh. You get an Undo for a few seconds in case you tapped it by mistake.
- Archive puts the list away. It keeps everything and can come back.
To reset a list before it's finished, tap ⋯ → Reset. A list that resets itself on a schedule shows Reset Now instead. See Make a list reset itself on a schedule.
On a Live List
How checking off works depends on how the list was shared:
- One list, completed together: one tick finishes an item for everyone. The list shows everyone's faces together at the top of the tick column, because you did it together. Anyone on the list can check or uncheck.
- A list for each person: everyone has their own column of ticks, and you can only tick your own. See Let each person track their own progress.
FAQ
I checked something off by mistake. How do I undo it?
Tap its circle again. That unchecks it straight away, on every device.
Why can't I see my completed items?
Show completed tasks is probably off. Tap ⋯ → View options and turn it back on.
Can I uncheck everything at once?
Yes. Tap ⋯ → Reset, or Use Again on the finished-list card. On a list for each person, only the list's owner can reset it, since it clears everyone's ticks.
