Add items with Siri (iPhone)

On iPhone you can add to a list without touching the screen. Say "Add items to my Groceries list in NellyList", then say what to add, and Siri puts each one on the list. NellyList opens on that list so you can see them land.

Add several items

Say any of these, using the name of one of your lists:

• "Add items to my Groceries list in NellyList"
• "Add the following items to my Groceries list in NellyList"
• "Add items to NellyList" (Siri then asks Which list?)
• "Add multiple items to NellyList"

When Siri asks What items should I add?, say them naturally: "milk, eggs, bread and butter". Siri reads back what it added, like "Added milk, eggs, bread, and butter to Groceries."

Add one item

• "Add to my Groceries list in NellyList"
• "Add an item to my Groceries list in NellyList"
• "Add an item to NellyList" or "Add something to NellyList"

Siri asks What should I add? and, if needed, Which list? If you say several things anyway, they're added as separate items.

How several items are split

What you say is split into items at commas, at the word "and", and wherever Siri writes "&" between words. So "apples, pears and grapes" becomes three items, each with a capital first letter.

Dictation often leaves out the commas, though. When the split isn't clear, like "milk eggs and butter", Nelly works out where each item starts from what you said, so something like "sweet and sour sauce" stays one item. This doesn't use your Nelly allowance. If Nelly can't be reached, the simple split is used, so nothing you said is lost.

Create a list by voice

• "Create a NellyList" or "Make a NellyList list": Siri asks What should the list be about?, then Create with Nelly opens and starts building it. This uses your Nelly allowance like any Create with Nelly list. See Create a list with Nelly.
• "Create a custom NellyList": Siri asks What should the list be called?, then the Create New List form opens with that name filled in. See Make a list yourself.

FAQ

Siri says it can't find my list.

Siri knows the names of your lists that aren't archived. Say the name as it appears on My Lists. If NellyList still can't match it, you'll see Couldn't find that list and land on My Lists.

Do these work in the Shortcuts app?

Yes. NellyList's actions also show up in Apple's Shortcuts app, so you can build them into your own shortcuts.

Can I use Siri on the web or a Mac?

No. Siri support is part of the iPhone app.
